During last last 25 years there has been a major shift in working habits, more service-related industries which means more and more people sitting at a desk behind a computer for hours on end. The human body was not designed for this sedentary lifestyle but to move and be active.
Unfortunately there are no health benefits of sitting behind a computer – here are just a few of the negative side effects:
• back and neck pain
• lack of blood flow which can lead to sleepiness and lack of concentration
• weight gain
• joint ache
If you have to earn a living sat behind a computer then it is important that you integrate some sort of activity during your work day such as:
• moving away from your desk during lunch break and not eating it at your desk
• if you have a one-on-one business meeting why not go for a walk outside (weather pemitting!)?
• stand and stretch during a phone call
• limit sitting to 30 mins a time if feasible
• and …… BOOK A MASSAGE WITH ME 🙂
Whilst a massage incurs costs this is justified by the positive impact it has on your body. Massage aims to pump up the blood flow around your body carrying oxygen-rich nutrients. This is the “oil” that keeps the body functioning.
Want to know how a massage can help? Here are a few perks:
• boosts your immune system
• pain relief in muscle and joints
• aids concentrate throughout the day
• helps to improve your quality of sleep
So…..these are just a few suggestions to help you boost your activity throughout your day and why you should do it – its now up to you!
