My friend Debbie

In 2010 I went to a photographic studio in Utrecht to have professional photos taken for my website. (Note to myself: damn girl! It looks like you haven’t aged much – maybe a few more wrinkles on my face 😊. So, yes, I am still very happy with them.)

For the photos I needed a model of course so I asked my best friend, Debbie. Deborah, as she was officially called, was like me: an English woman from who came for love to the Netherlands. Fun fact: Debbie was from Rugby (yes, indeed: the town where the sport rugby originated).

We met in 1999 and straight away we had a click and a bond. When I asked Debbie if she wanted to be a model in the photoshoot for my website she didn’t hesitate a second. Of course, she would love to do that.

We spent a few hours in the photo studio with Debbie enjoying her role as a model. Except for the pregnancy photo, she appears in all of them. Besides that the photos are really good and quite timeless, there is another reason why I want to keep these photos on my website: Debbie passed away in 2017 after fighting bravely against cancer. I miss her every single day but seeing her photo on my website helps keeps her memory alive and I will continue to use these photos for as long as I can.
