Do you want a massage but feel reluctant because you have to remove some of your clothing? Is this an obstacle that you feel you cannot get over? You have never done anything like this before and you are a bit nervous to have a stranger touching your body? Your mind is racing – “Was this a good idea yet my back is killing me?” “I haven’t shaved my legs!” “What if there is a zit on my back?” “Oh no, I have a pair of ugly undies on! I must be the first client ever to think this!” Spoiler alert: you’re not.
Feeling awkward on the table is really common, especially if its your first one. I am totally aware that this may be a new experience for you, and it’s my goal to make you as comfortable as possible.
When you come for your massage I will explain clearly what you have to do before you lie down on the table. Maybe there are parts of your body you don’t want to be touched? Are your feet ticklish? Do you prefer your buttocks not be massaged? That is totally fine, boundaries are important and so is maintaining them. I will never expose or touch private parts of your body.
Depending on which part of the body I am massaging, depends on which item of clothing you have to remove. You never remove your undies. Once you have done this, I will then ask you to lie face-down or face-up on the massage table explaining there is a towel to cover yourself up. Before any of this happens I will step out of the room to give you privacy. I then knock on the door and ask if you are ready and only when you give the go-ahead, do I walk in.
Once you are on the table, rest in whatever position is most comfortable for you. Spend less time worrying about what your body is doing – just enjoy what it is going through.
Depending on the length of the massage you will often be asked to turn over halfway through. Don’t panic – your modesty will be preserved! I am well practiced in ensuring the towel is covering you at all times so you do not feel exposed or uncomfortable.
Throughout the whole session only the body parts I am working on will be exposed, ensuring that any vulnerable parts are well covered and tucked in so you feel secure – you can of course hold the towel/sheet in this area yourself if you feel more comfortable.
Once the massage is over, I leave the room to allow you time to come around, get off the massage table and get dressed. Again, I always knock to see if you are ready and only enter if you are.
Some clients are more modest than others – I realise this and I respect their privacy at all times – not everyone is the same.
Step out of your comfort zone and book a massage – you won’t regret it!
